1) Message boards : General discussion : Norton Safeweb flagging PrimeGrid web page as unsafe (Message 128191)

And then there's the obvious: TdP is over and that announcement should have been removed. It's gone now.

There WAS limitation of the forum code (old server) that prevented you from using relative links or https for images. Using http was the only option.

They all seem to work now so we'll use https in the future:

http:
http://www.primegrid.com/img/badges/genefer_turquoise.png

https:
https://www.primegrid.com/img/badges/genefer_turquoise.png

relative:
//www.primegrid.com/img/badges/genefer_turquoise.png

relative:
/img/badges/genefer_turquoise.png

I probably should have tested the url (and url=) tags as well as the img tags. Here goes:

https:
https://www.primegrid.com/server_status.php
https://www.primegrid.com/server_status.php
link

http:
http://www.primegrid.com/server_status.php
http://www.primegrid.com/server_status.php
link

relative:
//www.primegrid.com/server_status.php
http:////www.primegrid.com/server_status.php *** Notice the "http:////" It still works.
link

relative: *** does not work
/server_status.php
http:///server_status.php
link

Bottom line:

With IMG tags, everything works the way you expect it to work.

With URL tags, if you specify the fully qualified URL, the forums retain whichever protocol you used (http or https). If you use relative URLs, the behavior is a bit strange. If you leave off the protocol, http (not https) gets used all the time. If you leave off the domain, it fails.

3) Message boards : Number crunching : Does hyperthreading speed up LLRs or not? (Message 128181)
Posted 21 hours ago by Profile Michael GoetzProject donor
Simply put, hyperthreading DECREASES overall throughput when running LLR. (Or at least it does most of the time.) Unless you run your own tests and discover better results with hyperthreading, don't use it for LLR.

As for the stats, always take them with a grain of salt. The BOINC client doesn't have nearly enough information to accurately report what's really happening with regards to hyperthreading, so you can never really be sure what the numbers mean on a CPU that has hyperthreading.

Best estimate at this time is a 1-2 yr duration. Therefore, start early and keep the foot on the gas pedal.

I said 1-5 years, with a best guess of 2 years.

You said 1-2 years.

The next iteration will say 1 year.

Then someone will say, just in case, plan on 6 months.

Better finish your crunching in 1 month. You never know.

Did you hear the rumor that it ended last week?

When you first turned this back on, the dc rate was almost 100% as if no dc was being done. Now that more users are jumping on it's fallen down some.

Probably because you were double checking tasks run by admins before it was opened up to the public.

DC is always turned on.

Nearly eight years in the making:

Well done.

Think we're now in the gold phase. I'll join you end of April.

It probably took weeks or months to get that silver badge (200K was needed for sieve silver badges at that time.) Gold took about 4 days.
